FRUIT BODY: A small ascomycete that has several similar species. Here we have a creamy coloured disc that is almost sessile in manner of growth with a thick short stalk barely apparent. It grows in clusters and when the excipulum is microscopicaly examined it is seen to be of the type angularis.   GILLS/PORES: N/A. FLESH: Slightly off white and tough, drying reddish brown. SPORES: Cylindrical, hyaline with oil droplets found at both rounded ends. 9-15 * 4-5. HABITAT: On dead mast of Beech trees. SEASON: Frequent but probably overlooked.  Throughout the year but mainly autumnal. EDIBILITY: Inedible.
